Rizwan hataya gaya, Shaheen Afridi bana naya Pakistan ODI captain.

Muhammad Rizwan ko Pakistan ke ODI captain ke tor par hata diya gaya hai, aur unki jagah Shaheen Shah Afridi ko naya captain bana diya gaya hai. Ye faisla PCB ne usi waqt announce kiya jab Rawalpindi mein Pakistan aur South Africa ke darmiyan chal rahi Test match ka pehla din khatam hua. Dono players — Rizwan (33) aur Afridi (25) — abhi usi match mein khel rahe hain. PCB ne Rizwan ko hatane ki koi official wajah nahi batayi, balkay unka naam tak apne bayan mein nahi liya. PCB ke mutabiq ye faisla Islamabad mein selection committee aur white-ball head coach Mike Hesson ke darmiyan hui meeting ke baad liya gaya. Rizwan ki position pehle hi khatre mein thi jab PCB ne weekend par ek bayan jari kiya jisme us ne unhe ODI captain ke tor par confirm karne se inkar kar diya tha. Us waqt PCB ne kaha tha ke Hesson ne chairman Mohsin Naqvi se guzarish ki hai ke selection aur advisory committee ke sath meeting bula kar naya captain appoint kiya jaye. Smriti Mandhana Breaks 28-Year Record for Most ODI Runs in a Calendar Year

India’s star opener Smriti Mandhana has rewritten history books by scoring the most runs in a calendar year in women’s ODI cricket, breaking a 28-year-old record previously held by Australia’s Belinda Clark.

Mandhana achieved the feat during India’s match against South Africa at the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 in Visakhapatnam on Thursday. Her knock of 23 runs off 32 balls took her tally to 982 runs in just 17 innings this year — at an average of 57.76 and an impressive strike rate of 112.22.

Most ODI Runs in a Calendar Year (Women’s Cricket)

Player Innings Runs Year
Smriti Mandhana (India) 17 982 2025
Belinda Clark (Australia) 14 970 1997
Laura Wolvaardt (South Africa) 18 882 2022
Debbie Hockley (New Zealand) 16 880 1997
Amy Satterthwaite (New Zealand) 14 853 2016

Despite her milestone, India fell short in the match, losing by three wickets after Mandhana’s 55-run opening stand with Preetika Rawal.

However, with four league matches still remaining, the 29-year-old is on the verge of yet another historic achievement — she now needs just 18 more runs to become the first woman ever to score 1,000 ODI runs in a single calendar year.

Mandhana’s consistency has been remarkable. She has already notched up four centuries and three fifties in 2025, including a 50-ball hundred — the second-fastest century in women’s ODI history, only behind Meg Lanning’s 45-ball blitz in 2012.

She is also:

  • Fifth-highest run-scorer in women’s ODI history (4,942 runs in 111 matches)
  • Second in all-time ODI centuries (13), only behind Meg Lanning (15)
  • Holder of the record for most centuries by an opener

Mandhana had also been India’s top scorer in ODIs in 2024 with 747 runs in 13 innings, breaking her teammate Deepti Sharma’s national record of 787 runs in 2017.

With records tumbling and more matches ahead, Smriti Mandhana’s golden run shows no signs of stopping.
